GBT is proud to have pioneered and successfully introduced the packet-switched communication protocol, Common Packet Channel (CPCH) to the predominant 3G system, W-CDMA. CPCH is now the standard packet structure in the 3G W-CDMA standard as approved by the ITU for medium sized packet length, which is the most common length for email and web browsing transactions. CPCH allows many users to share one channel, for wireless packet data purposes. It is the most effective and economic means for high data wireless communication and provides enormous potential cost savings in base stations and improves the efficiency of the entire network. The use of CPCH leads to a 20-times increase in data capacity. It also reduces the packet data modem cost in the Base Node by 5 to 40 times. This reduced infrastructure costs to the operators will in turn drive the cost of mobile wireless data down for the consumers so that the cellular phone will become the de facto personal communications device of choice. GBT also has Systems IP that pertains to technologies essential to the 3G W-CDMA wireless systems and incorporated into the official W-CDMA standards.
